Chandratal Baralacha Trek

The trek to Chandratal the “Moon Lake" is almost like going to the moon. You almost feel like the first explorers going to a new place for the first time. The landscape and the scenery change ever so quickly with each sighting bettering the one before.This is till you reach the lake! The world comes to a stand still here. Staring at you is this turquoise crescent of water surrounded by the Chandrabhaga & Mulkila Massifs.

Day 01: Delhi - Manali - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Half day sight seeing at Delhi and by evening drive to Manali by Bus or Cab. Overnight journey.

Day 02: Manali - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Arrival at Manali by morning. On arrival transfer to hotel for relax. After leisure visit Hadimba Devi temple, old Manali, Tibetan Monastery and the Mall road. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Manali - Batal (100 Kms/ 4hrs) - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Morning after breakfast drive to Batal via Rohtang pass (3980 mts). On arrival at Batal set out tent for overnight stay. In the afternoon take a hike for acclimatisation. Return to the camp in the evening. Dinner & Overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Batal - Chandratal (18 Kms/6 hrs) - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

After an early breakfast trek to Chandratal (4250 mts/13940 ft) with packed lunch. Chandratal is of exquisite beauty between a lower ridge and the main Kunzum range, the outlet being into Chandra River. Dinner & overnight stay in camp.

Day 05: Chandra Tal (4250 mts/13940 ft) - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

After breakfast explore the surroundings. One can go for a hike or chill out near by lake. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 06: Chandra Tal - Tokpo Yogma (4350 mts/14300 ft) 12 kms 6 hrs - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

After breakfast we will trek to Tokpo Yogma. Enjoy a good view of the mountain peaks and glaciers throughout the trek to reach Tokpo Gongma (4400 m). Stop for Packed lunch on the way to Tokpo Yogma. Tokpo means river in Tibetan and Gongma means big. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 07: Tokpo Yogma - Tokpo Gongma (4650 mts/15250 ft) 10 kms/5 hrs - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Today we will trek to Tokpo Gongma with packed lunch via Tokpo Yogma River. In this trek we will use ropes for crossing the streams. On arrival set out camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 08: Tokpo Gongma - Baralacha (4950 mts/16236 ft) 10 kms/5 hrs - Manali (By Jeep) - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Breakfast at the Camp, Today We start the day by crossing Tokpo Gongma (upper river). On this day we will have to hike for 10 kms to reach Baralacha La. Baralacha La (4950 M) is a double pass. It marks the divide between the Himalaya and Lahaul Ranges and also between the Himalaya and the Baralacha Range extending to the North. Packed lunch on theway to Baralacha, Baralacha (4883 m) is an interesting 8 kms long pass and gives rise to three rivers viz Chandra,Bhaga and Yunam. Baralacha means 'pass with cross roads on summit '. Roads from Zanskar, Ladakh, Spiti and Lahaul meet on top of the pass. Upon arrival at Baralacha Pass our tour escort will meet you there with the Jeeps and drive straight to Manali for Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 09: Manali – Delhi - Chandratal Baralacha Trek

Day at leisure and in the evening drive to Delhi by Bus Or Cab. Overnight journey.
