Kareri Lake Trek

Kareri Lake is situated in Himachal. It’s an easier trek for everyone. It is frequented mostly by Gujjars and Gaddis from the nearby villages because of extensive pasturelands. Clusters of dense conifers and different kinds of perennial flowers are a rare treat offered by this place.

Day 01: Delhi - Mcleodganj (2196 mts/7,200 ft) - Kareri Lake Trek

In the morning half day city sight seeing tour and afternoon transfer to New Delhi Rly. Station to board Shalimar express train at 15:55 hrs. Dinner in pantry car.

Day 02: Arrive Mcleodganj - Kareri Lake Trek

Early morning arrive at Mcleodganj by 03:30 hrs. Enroute wash & change followed by breakfast, afternoon time at leisure to relax, evening a brief on the entire program and distribution of equipments, dinner & overnight in hotel.

Day 03: Mcleodganj – Kareri village (2200 mts/7216 ft) 14 kms/5 hrs - Kareri Lake Trek

Today we will start our day one trek to Kareri village. The trek goes through the pine forests and cross several villages on the way. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Kareri – Kareri Lake (3500 mts/11480 ft) 14 kms/ 5 -6 hrs - Kareri Lake Trek

Trial goes through mixed forests of oak, rhododendron and pine. First 2 km is a level walk an then there is steep ascent along Kareri Nallah (stream) which has to be crossed over a number of times over improvised wooden bridges. Night stay in tents at bank of Kareri Lake. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 05: Kareri Lake – Bagga (2500 mts/8200 ft) 10 kms/ 5 hrs - Kareri Lake Trek

After a short ascent from the lake is a steep descent through the forest to Bagga. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 06: Bagga – Rewa village (2100 mts/6880 ft) 10 kms/4 hrs - Kareri Lake Trek

The trial goes down hill through the forest. Rewa village is situated on the bank of a small river. Dinner and overnight stay in a village.

Day 07: Rewa – Galu temple (2130 mts/6987 ft) 14 km/5 hrs - Kareri Lake Trek

It is a steep ascent through the forest to Galu temple. Dinner & overnight stay in Rest House.

Day 08: Galu Temple – Truind (2843 mts/9326 ft) – 7 km - Kareri Lake Trek

In the morning trek to Truind. It’s the ideal place for camping. Overnight stay in tents/rest house.

Day 09: Truind – Mcleodganj – 10 km - Kareri Lake Trek

After breakfast trek towards Mcleodganj passing through Dhramkot. The trail to Mcleodganj is generally gentle except last few kms. Dinner & overnight in guest house.

Day 10: Mcleodganj – Delhi - Kareri Lake Trek

Today we will take half day sight seeing and by evening transfer to railway station to catch overnight train for Delhi.
